Abstract

This article presents a comprehensive analysis of non-governmental organizations (NGOs), focusing
on their definition, classification, and historical evolution. It further examines the presence of foreign
NGOs in Pakistan along with their objectives and areas of operation. In addition, the study explores the
historical development of NGOs at the global level, their underlying purposes, and their expanding role
in contemporary society. It also discusses the growth in the number of NGOs worldwide as well as their
funding sources and financial structures. Overall, the article highlights the significance, influence, and
complex role of NGOs within the broader socio-political and economic framework.
